Ministry Update
We continue to hear encouraging testimonies from our Small Groups. A lady who was consistently sick and, as another member put it, "a frequent guest in the hospital", started attending and was prayed for. She has been healthy ever since and no more visits to the hospital. Another lady testified about her husband as he was always drunk (not uncommon in this area). He has remained sober since being prayed for. Fantastic to see and hear God moving in people’s lives. The Groups continue to grow and multiply, in fact, two new groups will start next week
The enrolees of our Bible School are enjoying their studies and raise a number of good questions when we all get together. The growth in the worship team as they lead over the weekend and the number of young people learning the bass, guitar and drums is encouraging.
YWAM Team
Early October we had a visit from a Tauranga based YWAM team. They were kept busy with Kids, Youth Ministry, Small Groups and walking through the villages talking and praying for people.
Crops
Last week Russell and his team did a fantastic job preparing and planting rice on around 18000 m2. It should be ready for harvest at the end of January. The fish in our fishpond continue to grow and should be at a decent size to sell in December.
Hands of Hope Faith Academy (HOHFA)
Unfortunately, a few suspicious characters have been walking around at night. Therefore, for added security a CCTV system has been installed in the grounds as well as classrooms.
Competitions
During October a few of our students entered two more inter-school competitions, Quiz Bee and Poster Making. We were able to celebrate more success as they achieved a fifth and third placing.
New Laptops
A generous donation has enabled us to replace the computer lab laptops. The 24 replacements will arrive from NZ in February. The school will still be able to use a few of the older ones. A project we are currently working on is raising money to purchase and install a tv to use as a monitor in each of our 7 classrooms. This will be connected to a laptop. You can read more about this project below.
Family Update
Joe is busy with exams, projects and internal assignments. He's also submitted his application to Auckland University for July next year. Jenny is back from her locum in Tauranga but will be returning to New Zealand in December for another one.
Focus Project
Part of providing our students with the best possible education is preparing them for the world they will enter after they leave HOHFA. This means having the technology that exists today readily available in the classroom. By doing so, the students will be able to comfortably incorporate it in their lives.
This month our focus is on purchasing 7 tv's to use as monitors for each of our classrooms. Currently the PTA (Parent Teachers Association) is raising money for one to be placed in the library. Once the tv's are installed they will be connected to a laptop which will be utilised by both the teacher and students
The cost per tv is $NZ350-400. For 7 TVs we will need to raise between $NZ2245-2800 If you would like to donate please click here
