The end of March saw the completion of the school year at Hands of Hope Faith Academy. We had a wonderful Recognition Programme to honor a number of students who performed with excellence in a variety of areas. Under the leadership of Principal Elsa the pupils have made significant progress and we are all very proud of them. They now have a well-earned break for the next two months. When I am in the villages a number of the kids always ask me when school starts so they must be missing classes -
The 2016-2017 School Year is taking shape nicely. We have already hired a number of new teachers, a mixture of new graduates as well as those with experience and Elsa is very busy preparing teaching schedules and legal papers for the Department of Education.
There is also a lot of construction happening at the school during the holidays. We are in the process of building new toilet blocks as well as a new canteen for the kids. Photos of the construction can be viewed on our website.
We are excited to have Peter and Lesley join our team at Hands of Hope Ministries. They completed 2 years at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry before being part of the Bethel Church plant in Whangarei. They are settling in nicely and have brought a car, found an apartment and most importantly, establishing relationships and loving the people we are called to minister to. You can follow their adventures on their facebook pages.
During February and March, we hosted Rod and Karen Harris (from Whangarei) and Tim and Sue Jensen (from Abundant Life Community Church, Tauranga). We had a lot of fun and the way they embraced, helped and served was absolutely amazing. Rod is a very talented handyman so we were able to build computer desks for the school’s computer lab and construct shelves for the school apartment. Rod and Karen, both qualified teachers, also spent time training and ministering to HOHFA teachers as well as ministering in the churches. Tim and Sue’s joy was contagious and they were well received as they ministered in sincerity and love in the churches. They were also able to meet the pupil their church sponsors from Hands of Hope Faith Academy. Both couples have promised to come back and we are looking forward to it
Jenny left for NZ on Thursday and will spend 6-7 weeks in Invercargill working as a specialist at the local hospital. Joseph and myself leave on the 22 of June and will travel around a bit. The first stop will be Wellington, then back to Auckland and finally Tauranga. Would love to catch up for a chat with those of you who have time. So please send me an email firstname.lastname@example.org and let’s arrange it.
