Bringing a Brighter Future!
Our Response to Typhoon Yolanda
Dear Friends Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) was one of the largest storms to ever make landfall. Whole towns have been demolished by winds measuring over 200 mph (300 km/h) and a storm surge that brought a wall of water up to 30 feet (10 meters) high. Yolanda affected some 9.5 million people in the Philippines and caused widespread destruction and displacement. The death toll continues to rise as remote areas are reached.

Our Response

Typhoon Yolanda
On Wednesday we met with our filipino leaders in San Isidro and agreed that we should use the money we normally raise for our Christmas celebration to help those that have been affected by this disaster. Though we work in very poor areas our local leaders have such a heart to help those more desperate than themselves. We are so proud of their response. There are a number of Churches / Organizations we can partner with so within the next few weeks we will work to determine the best places we can use the money we raise and the best time to go down and deliver the aid and minister to people.

Why Wait and not go Now?

Three reasons,

  1. At the moment it's still very difficult to gain access to affected areas as many roads are impassable and gasoline is not available for road transport.
  2. It will take weeks before the true scale of the destruction will emerge.
  3. People will be in need physically, emotionally and spiritually for long after the disaster has left the headlines and large international aid groups have left the scene.

Please consider helping this desperate need.
